From Colds to Cold Snaps: A Week in the Life at Stock and Steeds
Share
It’s been an eventful week on the ranch, though not exactly in the “exciting” sense. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
We started the week battling a cold that made its way through the house, which meant that cleaning and sanitizing quickly became our top priority. April spent countless hours washing bed sheets and thoroughly cleaning high-contact areas throughout the house to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Amidst the illness, we also took some time to inspect the tractor. After some investigation, we discovered that our next step is to replace the water pump. We’re hoping that this will resolve the overheating issue, but we’re cautiously optimistic. Neither a new water pump nor replacing the head (if needed) will be an easy or inexpensive fix, so we’re bracing ourselves for a bit of a challenge. With all other possible causes ruled out, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the pump is the culprit.
While a cold running through the house certainly slowed us down, we still made progress on the ranch. We were able to get a few more stalls put together and continue prepping for additional ones. Between the tractor issues, illness, and all the other tasks, we’ve been burning the candle at both ends, but we’re pushing through.
On top of those extra projects, we’ve been handling our daily duties—feeding, watering, and cleaning stalls for the livestock. Wisconsin has brought another cold snap, which means we’ve had to keep a close eye on the water tanks and make sure the animals are staying comfortable, well-fed, and content.
It’s been a busy week, but we’re staying resilient and making the most of it.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of our followers! We hope you’re taking a moment to savor the little things in life and share some love with the people (and animals!) who make it all worthwhile.
Until next week: Savor, Flourish, and Enjoy the Ride – and don’t forget to close the gate!
