Health Struggles, Ranch Life, and Adjusting Our Routine
Share
Hey y’all,
It’s been a challenging couple of weeks here at the ranch, and we want to start this blog post by offering a sincere apology to all of our readers for the lack of updates last week.
Unfortunately, our house was hit with a severe cold that quickly spread through the entire family. It all began when the kids brought it home, and before we knew it, everyone had caught it. April ended up with a particularly tough sinus infection while being 22 weeks pregnant, which required her to be on bed rest for a while to recover.
Amidst all this, we also had to separate some of last year’s calves due to their mothers not weaning them yet, and we’re gearing up for the new batch of calves that will arrive in just a few short months. While we were working on this, April got hit again when our stud, Cash, tried to take a bite at Bill. Instead of reaching Bill, he ended up clamping down on April’s leg. Despite being unwell, April pushed through and is healing nicely, though she’s still dealing with some discomfort from the bruising. It’s one thing to get bitten by a horse that’s being aggressive toward a human, but when their target is another horse, the damage can be quite severe.
With such a challenging couple of weeks and the busy season fast approaching, we’ve made the decision to reduce the frequency of our weekly blog posts to allow us to focus more on the care and well-being of our animals. Moving forward, we’ll be posting every other week, but we’ll stay active on our social media so you can keep up with all the exciting happenings here on the ranch.
We genuinely appreciate each and every one of you and want to thank you for your understanding. In order to continue providing you with the highest-quality beef and maintain the health of our animals, we need to step away from the computer a little more often.
Thank you for your continued support. We’re grateful to have you as part of our ranch family.
Savor, Flourish, Enjoy the ride—and don’t forget to close the gate!
Warm regards,
Trevor Moller, April Johnson,
And the team at Stock and Steeds
