Introducing Our Mommas: A Closer Look at Our Cattle Family

At our ranch, we proudly care for twelve incredible cows, the foundation of our sustainable farming journey. Each cow holds a special place in our hearts, enriching our lives with unique bonds and cherished memories. They are truly part of our family.

Hemi: An older gal, Hemi is in her twilight years. We closely monitor her health to ensure she can comfortably handle another calf. Her name, humorously, comes from a harmless hemorrhoid that doesn’t bother her at all.

Squirrely: Known for her striking appearance, Squirrely would have been a star in the show ring during her youth. We welcomed her to our ranch when she was just a year old, but our kids weren’t ready to show cows back then. Always on the move, she’s as unpredictable as a bull, and we admire her from a safe distance.

Bessie: Bessie embodies the "Easy Keeper" breed—short and stout, she always looks healthy and full. This sweet cow loves a good scratch now and then, making her one of our favorites.

Trouble: A bottle calf raised right here on our farm, Trouble lives up to her name. Whether it’s leaping fences or sneaking into restricted areas, she’s always finding new ways to create mischief.

Favorite: Another bottle calf, Favorite has won our hearts with her sweet demeanor and model-worthy looks. She’s simply an all-around lovely cow.

Annabelle: Named after a character from April’s favorite Christmas movie, "Annabelle’s Wish," she shares a special bond with April. Annabelle often comes when called and occasionally greets April with a kiss—though it’s a bit slimy!

Daisy: The daughter of one of our late cows, Daisy is a bit shy and prefers her own company. Now at breeding age, we’re excited to see the new calves she will bring into the world.

We also have three “Homegrown” girls yet to be named. They keep to themselves and are generally well-behaved. We’d love any name suggestions!

Additionally, we have two “store-bought” girls who recently had beautiful calves. Coming from a larger herd, they’re curious yet cautious but are slowly warming up to us. We welcome name ideas for these lovely ladies too!

While our herd may be small, it allows us to ensure each cow receives the care and nutrients necessary for producing high-quality, healthy grass-fed meat.

As always,

Savor, Flourish, Enjoy the ride--and don’t forget to close the gate!
