New Arrivals!

Winter always feels like it drags on, especially when you're trying to keep up with everything. The cold weather makes daily tasks take longer, and there's always the challenge of dealing with the unexpected. Thankfully, this week has brought some warmer temperatures to Wisconsin, and we're grateful for the change. Spring may not be here just yet, but it's on the horizon, even if it takes its time.
One of the most exciting parts of spring is the arrival of new faces on the ranch. This year, our goats were the first to welcome the new arrivals—we’ve got kids!
Our goats play a vital role on the ranch, helping clear treelines and expand our pastures by tackling the weeds and trees that creep into our grazing areas. They’re also incredibly helpful in cleaning up grasses and weeds that the cattle tend to ignore.
This little one arrived a bit earlier than we anticipated, and we had to step in to ensure its survival. April spent hours in the stall, keeping the newborn warm and dry to prevent it from getting chilled. After assessing the situation, she decided it was too cold for the baby to stay outside with its mom, so she brought it inside.
To give the little one the best start, we quickly fed it a bottle of replacement colostrum to provide the nutrients it needed. April also went out to milk the mother, preparing to reintroduce her baby when the time was right. As a first-time mom, the mother wasn’t immediately receptive, so April is now playing the role of nanny, giving the baby all the care and attention it deserves.
Although we prefer to let nature take its course, moments like this remind us of why we love ranching. There’s something truly special about witnessing the miracle of birth and seeing these little ones grow. We’re always willing to step in when needed, ensuring our animals get the best chance at a healthy, happy life.
With that said, we’d love to hear your suggestions for naming our new baby girl, and we can’t wait to share more of our new arrivals as the season progresses.
Savor, Flourish, Enjoy the ride—and don’t forget to close the gate!
